The Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Niger State, Dr. Mohammed Kpautagi, has formally flagged off his campaign in Kpaki Ward, Mokwa Local Government Area, beginning the exercise from his immediate political home. Kpautagi emerged as the ADC governorship candidate following the party’s May 2026 primaries.
The campaign flag-off, held today at the Kpaki Ward Headquarters, brought together party leaders, stakeholders, supporters and members of the community.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Kpautagi explained that commencing the campaign from his home ward was significant to him, as he considered it important to first return home to seek the blessings and support of his people before taking the campaign to other parts of Niger State.
He was accompanied by his running mate, Hon. Mamman Musa, alongside prominent ADC leaders and stakeholders. Mamman Musa was formally unveiled as Kpautagi’s running mate in August 2026.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Kpautagi reiterated his campaign’s focus on prudent management of public resources and expressed concern over the debt obligations of Niger State. He pledged that, if elected, his administration would prioritise fiscal responsibility and ensure that the resources of the state are directed towards programmes and projects with measurable benefits to the people.
He maintained that borrowing should not become an unnecessary burden on future generations and said his administration would place emphasis on accountability, transparency and responsible utilisation of public funds. Kpautagi has previously publicly criticised the state’s debt levels and described them as a potential burden on future generations.
The Kpaki event marks the commencement of the campaign’s engagement with communities as the ADC prepares for the 2027 Niger State governorship election.
